On November 14–15, 2024, the NETTAG+ project participated in the 12th edition of Business2Sea, held in Matosinhos, Portugal. With a dedicated stand, the project showcased its portfolio of three innovative solutions designed to prevent, avoid, and mitigate the negative impacts of fishing gear and marine litter derived from fisheries activities.
Researchers from CIIMAR and INESCTEC actively contributed to the event, highlighting NETTAG+ solutions. This included the exhibition of the acoustic tag and the IRIS Autonomous Underwater Vehicle (AUV), developed by UNEW, Succorfish, and INESCTEC, to avoid the loss of fishing gear.
Business2Sea 2024 attracted a diverse audience of approximately 150 participants, including representatives from academia, industry, national, regional, and local authorities, EU institutions, and even high school students. This vibrant mix of stakeholders created an engaging platform for knowledge exchange and networking.
NETTAG+’s presence at the event provided an invaluable opportunity to raise awareness about the pressing issue of marine litter and to demonstrate how innovative social and technological solutions can drive positive environmental change.
